I used to wake up and immediately check my phone. Hours disappeared as I scrolled through endless posts, comparing my life to highlight reels of strangers. I didn’t realize how much social media was affecting my mental health until I caught myself feeling anxious and inadequate daily.
One weekend, I decided to take a break. I deleted my apps and promised myself two days without social media. At first, I felt restless but what would I do without my usual distractions? But soon, I noticed a shift.
I spent more time being present, reading, journaling, and even taking walks without feeling the need to share them online. My mind felt lighter, my focus improved, and I stopped feeling overwhelmed by constant notifications.
After that weekend, I made social media detoxes a regular habit. I now schedule phone-free hours and unfollow accounts that make me feel less than enough. Social media is a tool, but I no longer let it control me.
If you ever feel drained after scrolling, try a detox even for a few hours. You might be surprised at how much clarity and peace you gain.
