Dealing with Negative Self-Talk: My Battle with Self-Doubt

For the longest time, I was my own worst critic. Every mistake felt like proof that I wasn’t good enough. I’d tell myself, “You’ll never succeed” or “You’re not smart enough.” These thoughts became so automatic that I didn’t even question them.

One day, after failing to meet a personal goal, I caught myself thinking, “Of course, you failed. You always do.” That’s when I realized how cruel I was being to myself. Would I say this to a friend? Never. So why was I saying it to myself?

I started challenging my negative self-talk. Every time I had a harsh thought, I replaced it with a kinder one. Instead of “I’m a failure,” I told myself, “I made a mistake, but I can learn from it.” Slowly, my mindset changed.

I also began practicing affirmations, simple phrases like “I am capable” and “I deserve kindness.” At first, it felt silly, but over time, these words became my truth.

If you struggle with self-doubt, remember: your thoughts shape your reality. Be as kind to yourself as you would be to someone you love. You are more than your mistakes, and you deserve self-compassion.
